Aguadas is part of the heritage towns of Colombia due to the paisa culture that is still maintained, for being the capital of the traditional aguadeño hat which allows artisans to work with the iraca palm, and for making the National Festival of the Colombian Pasillo, an autochthonous Andean rhythm. But its main tradition is that of the “Putas de Aguadas”, a story that you can hear from the village elders.
Its location is north of the department of Caldas and 126 km from Manizales. To get to Aguadas Caldas from Manizales you can do it by bus from the transport terminal of the capital. Go to the ticket offices of the Expreso Sideral company in the terminal because it is the only company that makes the route to this municipality.
There you can buy the tickets for your trip from Manizales to Aguadas or if you want to buy them in advance from their website you can also do it. The ticket from Manizales to Aguadas costs 29,000 Colombian pesos ($7.6) and it takes an average of 4 hours to travel through the stops in some municipalities.
The fastest route if you are going to travel by car from Manizales is to take the exit for Alto de Corinto in the city of Manizales and continue by road until the retreat where you take the intersection to the municipality of Salamina until you reach Aguadas. The trip lasts 3 hours and 30 minutes but the good thing is that it is a road without tolls.
Something that you will fall in love with when you arrive in Aguadas is the landscape formed by the coffee crops around the town.
