To get to Boulevard del Río you must take the MIO mass transit and get off at the “plaza de Caicedo” station. Although its address is Av. Colombia #13-22, when you leave the station you come across the La Ermita church and immediately the pedestrian path of the boulevard begins.
The Boulevard del Río is a tourist site that you can visit in the afternoon. The plan is to sit on the benches and listen to the sound of the Cali River while you feel the breeze that characterizes the city. You find restaurants, bars, and ice cream parlors and in the December season, it is the place where the largest Christmas lighting in the city is placed.
On Fridays after 5:00 pm, the boulevard is a fun and meeting place for people who work in downtown Cali. When they leave work they go to the bars on the boulevard to talk and have a drink, so a good day to go is at this time. Some of the restaurants that you can find near Boulevard del Rio are:
- Bocados Restaurante
- Benedicto Social Bistró
- El pizzaron boulevard del rio
- El Finestral - Galería Restaurante
- Corchea Cafe Bristo
- Rafaella Pizza
- Subway
- La Gente Que Me Gusta
- Platillos voladores
Regarding its history, Avenida Colombia Boulevard was delivered in 2013 by the Mayor's Office two years after its construction began. The result of the work is a pedestrian walkway 980 meters long at the top and a vehicular tunnel 686 meters long at the bottom; called the "Mundialista Tunnel" and is the longest tunnel in Colombia in an urban area.
