How to get to Capurganá Chocó by plane, by boat, and by car from Medellín or Cali

Capurganá is a very small town that belongs to the municipality of Acandí within the department of Chocó in Colombia and is very close to the border with Panama. To visit Capurganá can only be accessed by air or sea, so you will not find vehicles on its streets. Here we share a tourist guide to get to this municipality along with some places to visit.

To get to Capurganá by plane you must do it from the Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellín. This is the only airport with direct charter flights to this district. The flight lasts one hour, leaves two days a week and you travel with Search and Tac airlines.

If you cannot find flights to Capurganá, another option is to take a direct flight to the municipality of Acandí through ADA airlines, also from Medellín. Once you arrive in Acandí, you must continue the trip in a boat to reach Capurganá.

If you want to travel to Capurganá from other cities such as Bogotá, Cali, or Cartagena, you must first arrive at the Medellín airport because it is the only one with direct flights. Remember that Medellín has two airports, you must arrive at Olaya Herrera, which is one within the city.

To get to Capurganá by sea, you can go by car to Turbo and board a boat that travels to Capurganá. The trip by land from Medellín to Turbo lasts 10 hours and thirty minutes and you have to go to Montería and take a detour to Puerto Rey; you will find yourself with only a toll of $16,200 in San Cristóbal. Also from Medellín, there are flights to Apartadó, which is a municipality that is 45 minutes from Turbo.
