To get to the Museum of the Inquisition in Cartagena de Indias you must go to the historic center within the Walled City. Once you enter through the Clock Tower, you must walk along Calle del Candilejo until Calle del Landrinal and this will take you to Calle de la Inquisición, which is where Parque Bolívar is located. The palace house is located in a corner of the Park and it only takes you 5 minutes to get there.
Formerly, the Palace of the Inquisition was the place where those who violated Catholic law between the years 1610 and 1815, called heretics, were taken to be tried and tortured for crimes against religion. The building was built in 1570 in a colonial and baroque style but in 1953 it became the headquarters of the Historical Museum of Cartagena.
The old Palace was made up of prisons and torture chambers in which alleged heretics were subjected; If you go today you can see most of these spaces since the museum has taken care to preserve them together with the sample of the elements and tools of their torture methods.
