The monument and all the attractions around it are located in the Chipre neighborhood in Manizales, Caldas. Here we share everything you will find there, how to get there, and some things you should know about the park:
When they arrive at the place they will find a small hill with paths that lead them to the monument that is located on top of the hill in the park. The entrance is free, it is open from 10 in the morning to 7 at night and something that we recommend is to take a tour offered by the guides that are in the place, they will explain in detail the history of Manizales, its colonization and how this milestone can be seen in the monument. The guides are free of charge because they are from the Mayor's Office, they are not always there but before going you can request one by calling in advance.
The monument consists of 7 sculptures where you can appreciate "La Agonía" and "El Éxtasis" of the founders who came from some municipalities in the south of Antioquia and settled on top of the central mountain range. It was a work carried out by the sculptor Luis Guillermo Vallejo Vargas in 2002. Under the monument, you can find the Coffee Museum.
After knowing the history and appreciating this work of art, you will be able to sit on the hill to enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Manizales, remember to wear a coat because that is how it looks on a sunny day, the wind is very strong.
How to get to Monument to the Colonizers?
It is located in the Chipre neighborhood in Manizales on Avenida 12 de Octubre (which is Calle 7) and Carrera 9a, the entire site is in a park, shaped like a roundabout, which contains a small hill.
To get to it from the center you can do it by taking route 704 of the company Transportes Gran Caldas S.A (it is good to ask before getting on because the routes may change them), a point of reference is that RCN is next to it Radio.
You can also go by vehicle, next to the park on the avenue there is a park area, and in it, there are booths that sell handicrafts and mecato.
