Public transport in Medellín is a fairly broad topic because, in addition to the Metro, Metroplús, Tram, Encicla, and Buses, it has an urban cable car system. Currently, the metrocable service is made up of five service lines that are J, K H, L, and M. Each line has 3 stations in operation or stops; all are very well equipped with elevators, mechanical platforms, escalators and/or ischiatic supports and perfectly adapted for disabled people.
The Metrocable, in addition to being a very good means of transportation, is a worthwhile way for visitors to travel because it is a very pleasant trip and from its height, they can have a view of the neighborhoods built on the mountains that are part of Medellín and Comuna 13.
How to get to the Metrocable?
To get to any of the metro cable lines, you must initially enter any Metro station, from there you must go to the San Antonio or Acevedo stations (you are on line A, which is the one that travels vertically through the city), which are the ones that have a transfer to the metrocable. How to get to the metro cable line J
To get to line J, you must first arrive at the San Antonio metro station (which is on line A), where you must get off the metro and make a transfer to take the metro line B, and then you must go towards the last station which is San Javier. There they must get out of the metro, go up the stairs and take the J line metrocable, they will find three stops: JuanXXIII, Vallejuelos, and Aurora, which is the last one.
How to get to the M line
To get to line M, you must first arrive at the San Antonio metro station (which is on line A), where you must get off the metro and make a transfer to take the metro line T-A and then you must go towards the fifth station which is Miraflores. There they must get out of the metro, go up the stairs and take the M line metrocable, they will find two stops: El Pinal and Trece de Noviembre, which is the last one.
How to get to the metrocable line H
To get to line H, you must first arrive at the San Antonio metro station (which is on line A), where you must get off the metro and make a transfer to take the metro line T-A and then you must go towards the last station which is Oriente. There they must get out of the metro, go up the stairs and take the M line metrocable, they will find two stops: Las Torres and Villa Sierra, which is the last one.
How to get to the K line
To get to line K, you must first arrive at the Acevedo metro station (which is on line A), where you must get off the metro and go up the stairs to take the metrocable line K, you will find three stops: Andalucía, Popular, and the Santo Domingo station, in the latter there is a boulevard that will take you to the L line.
How to get to metrocable line L (Parque Arví)
This line is the one that takes you to Parque Arví, to get to line L you must first get to the last stop on line K (Santo Domingo), get off the cable car, and take a new one on line L. Remember that to get to the K line, they do it from the Acevedo subway station. On line L you will find only one stop, which is Parque Arví.

Tour
As for tourism, the metrocable and the subway lend themselves to seeing many tourist sites in Medellín from above and then deciding which one to visit.
To do the entire route, you must enter the Metro and get to the San Antonio station, there you must first make the direct transfer to the San Javier station so that you can take the "J" line that will take you to Aurora, make the tour and return to San Antonio where they must make the direct transfer to the Miraflores station to take the "M" line that will take them to Trece de Noviembre, then from Miraflores they can continue to the Oriente station to take the "H" line.
To go to the rest of the Lines, you must return to the San Antonio station and go to the Acevedo station, from there you can take the "K" line to Santo Domingo, where the Parque Biblioteca España operates, and if you wish to go to the Parque Arví, you can continue and take the "L" line, which is the one that also connects the township of Santa Elena with the rest of the system.
Metrocable Commune 13
Line J of the metrocable is the one that will take you to commune 13, which is the one you take at the San Javier station. But this means they will not be able to reach the escalators or the graffiti tour, this means will only serve them to see the commune from above. If you want to get to the escalators of commune 13 you must do it using the buses outside the San Javier station.
Arví Park Cable Metro
Line L is the one that will take you to Parque Arví, it is at the last stop of line K (you must take a new cable car) and remember that it is reached through the Acevedo Metro station. To take the L line and get to Parque Arví, you must pay an additional value on the metro cable.
Capacity and length
Each cabin of the Medellín cable car is designed for 8 people to be transported seated throughout the route and can hold from 1,800 to 4,000 passengers. Regarding the distances by lines, these are the lengths that each one handles:
- Line H, a route of 1.4 kilometers.
- Line J, a route of 2.7 kilometers.
- Line K, a route of 2 kilometers.
- Line L, a route of 4.6 kilometers.
- Line M, a distance of 1.05 kilometers.
Schedules
These are the schedules that the metro and metro cable operate during the week, on weekends, and holidays:
Subway Schedule (Line A, B, T-A).
From Monday to Saturday they are open from 4:30 am to 11:00 pm. On Sundays and holidays they have a schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Metrocable Lines H, J, K, M.
From Monday to Saturday they are open from 4:30 am to 11:00 pm. On Sundays and holidays, the K line is open from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and the H, J, and M lines are open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Timetable of the Metrocable Line L (Cable to Parque Arví).
From Tuesday to Saturday they are open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. On Sundays and holidays, it is open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Keep in mind that this line does NOT provide service on the first business day of the week.
Rates
The cost per entrance, either by subway or directly to any of the lines, except line L, is 2.3000 Colombian pesos (it would be less than a dollar). For line L or Cable Arví, the price for entering the Metrocable, either by subway or direct, is 10,000 Colombian pesos (it would be about 3 dollars).
