How to get to Parque Lleras Poblado Medellín: Restaurants, bars, and opening hours

The park is located in the entire center of the El Poblado neighborhood and its address is recorded as Carrera 37 with Calle 9. To get to Parque Lleras you must take the southern highway or the regional avenue to street 10, go up it to Carrera 40, cross to the right and find the park.

How to get there using the Metro

You can also get there using the metro and the buses that are outside the station, for this you must take the metro to the populated station, leave it by the exit on the right where you must cross the bridge and then go to find buses parked behind the stairs of the bridge, they leave every 20 minutes, you must take route 132i which will leave you one block from the park (you must get off at the corner of street 10 with Carrera 40).

How to get here on foot

You can also walk to the park, once you leave the subway station the park is 15 minutes away, you must go all the way up Calle 10 to Carrera 40.

Visiting the Parque Lleras area during the day is very different from visiting it at night. During the day it is quieter, you can take a walk in the park, go to one of the cafeterias, bookstores or eat something in a restaurant since there is a great variety of cuisine such as typical Antioquian food, fast food, and Italian food among others.

Regarding hours, most restaurants open every day at noon and close at midnight on weekdays (some are closed between 3 pm and 7 pm). The bars have a schedule during the week from 6 pm to 12 am and on weekends they are extended until 3 am. The discos have more exclusive hours since most of them are only open from Thursday to Saturday from 8 pm to 4 am.

Parque Lleras was built in the 1930s by Banco Central Hipotecario (BCH) and its name comes from the fact that the bank's manager was called Julio Eduardo Lleras. It started as a residential neighborhood with 45 middle-class houses and after a few years, it became one of the traditional neighborhoods of Medellín. Little by little, people were selling their houses to merchants to set up different types of businesses.

Regarding important events, on May 17, 2001, a car bomb exploded near the park at 10 pm, one of the busiest hours for people in the area, leaving 8 people dead and more than 130 wounded. But this fact, after a few years, made the park become a tourist meeting icon for tourists and travelers, thus increasing the gastronomic offer, the lodging offer, and the party.
