To get to the Santa Rita waterfall from Salento you must take a detour in Boquía, it is located on the road that leads to the town of Salento from the Armenia - Pereira highway. From there you must walk a distance of 4.8 km to reach the waterfall.
The first stop is made at the Santa Rita hacienda located 1 kilometer from the entrance of Boquía. The house is the entrance to the ravine path and the value of income per person has a price of $5,000 (2 dollars) since it is private property. At the hacienda, they can rest for a while, have a bottle of good red wine, and do some grocery shopping.
The road continues passing the farm, the walk is done through mountains, forests and you enter a valley until you reach the old railway train track (this track was the one that was going to connect Ibagué with Armenia), then you get the entrance of a tunnel that when going through it you can see the river, you arrive at a suspension bridge and finally at the waterfall.
When they arrive at the waterfall there is a booth where they sell some drinks and mecato. The first thing they should do is take a bath in the waterfall since the cold water comforts them after that walk. When leaving the waterfall, visit the natural pool, it is a puddle that is found on the upper path behind the booth.
It is very nice and they can relax for a moment in the water. When leaving the pond, the second thing they can do is visit the second waterfall through the caverns, they take the path on the right, and they find an abandoned cavern, which when they cross is another waterfall where they can bathe again.
To return, take the same route and return to the main waterfall. The walk lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours, it is a tour where you will have permanent contact with nature and it is a perfect plan to do as a family.
At the Santa Rita farm, you can also stay or camp as there is a large camping area. If you want to hire a guide to do this tour, it costs $20,000 and they hire him at the farm.
