The Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina is a department located in the Caribbean Sea north of Colombia; 775 km northwest of the Atlantic coast of the country's continental territory and 220 km from the eastern coast of Nicaragua. The department is made up of three islands of which only San Andrés and Providencia offer accommodation options; I will tell you a little more about them, how to get there and what to do in each one.

San Andrés

San Andrés is the capital of the department, it is considered the most touristic island in Colombia due to its sea of 7 colors, its sunny climate during most months of the year, for its beautiful white sand beaches and for being the starting point to the other two islands of the department thanks to the airport that it has in the center of the island where they receive flights from Bogota, Medellin, Cali and Panama.

Providencia

Providencia is the second island of the department, it is 20 minutes from San Andrés and the way to get there is using a small plane from the San Andrés airport or using a catamaran trip that lasts 3 hours from the maritime pier; You should know that there are no direct flights to Providencia Island from any other city in Colombia, you can only arrive from the city of San Andrés and it is advisable to book the flight at least 2 months in advance.

Santa Catalina

Santa Catalina is the third island of the San Andrés archipelago and is 1km from Providencia, so to get there you must first arrive in Providencia. It has a dry climate, and a tropical dry forest, and is one of the tourist attractions when you go to Providencia. On this island, you will not find accommodation options, which is why it is considered more of a place to visit when you travel to Providencia.
