
Los Pozos Azules is a tourist attraction to go with the family, camp, and rest since thanks to its tranquility it allows you to disconnect for a moment from everything and connect with nature. The place where wells are located on a private property of 60 hectares of desert that you can explore on foot or horseback.
The property is located 7 minutes from the square of Villa de Leyva. To get to Pozos Azules you must take the Villa de Leyva – Santa Sofía highway and then make a detour at kilometer 2 to reach the Sopotá path. You can go by taxi, on horseback, by bicycle, or even walking since the distance to the entrance of the artificial wells is only 2.5 kilometers. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes and plenty of water.
The Blue Wells is a tourist marvel because its hue changes with the weather. That is why we recommend that you visit them when the sky is clear, since this way you can appreciate the greenish blue and orange-red. When the sky is cloudy it is not worth going.
Its hue is thanks to the presence of selenium, sulfur, and other minerals in the gullies where the rainwater descends, each one took almost 5 years to obtain its final hue, for this reason, it is not allowed take a bath.
Currently, there are 3 sectors of blue wells. As they are on private property, but with public access, you must pay an entry value that has an average cost between $5,000 and $12,000 per person, depending on the property.
