
The entrance to the town is free, normally you could enter from 5 in the morning until midnight and on Saturdays, it was open 24 hours. Due to renovations and the pandemic, since the beginning of 2020, the town closed its doors, and access to the Nutibara mountain was prohibited. But as of September 2020, the Medellín Mayor's Office authorized the reopening of this tourist attraction and the entry of people to the hill under certain protocols.
The authorized hours for the small town after the quarantine is from 5:00 in the morning to 11:00 at night every day. Although it is already open, access is pedestrian only since the vehicle parking service is not enabled. You can also do sports, and environmental activities and buy in most commercial premises; these handle a schedule between 10 am to 11 pm.
Cerro Nutibara is a block with an extension of 33 hectares and a height of 80 meters above the level of the city. It is located to the southwest of the city between the Aeroparque Olaya Herrera and the Medellín river. Later in this guide, we will explain how to get there. How to get to Pueblito Paisa?
To get to Pueblito Paisa you must go to the Barcelona neighborhood very close to the Laureles neighborhood, on Avenida 33 with Carrera 63b in Medellín. There you will find the street that takes you to the north entrance of Cerro Nutibara just after passing the La Casa de Crisanto theater.
To arrive by Metro, you must get off at the “Exposiciones” station. Then walk along Calle 37 towards Avenida 33 on the left side of the road until you reach Carrera 63b (the walk is approximately 30 minutes). You can also make a transfer from outside the metro station to the Metroplús system to go to the Nutibara station, there you can enter through the south entrance of the hill.
If you are going to arrive by car with the family, the town has roads to climb the hill and a private parking lot. You can also climb the hill by bicycle or on foot, as there are illuminated trails suitable for walkers where you can enjoy the nature of the place.
Nutibara Hill
Cerro Nutibara is a small mountain declared an Ecological Park Recreation Area located in the geographic center of the Aburrá Valley. Due to its attractions at the top, it receives an average of 1.5 million travelers during the year, and the inhabitants of Medellín who like to play sports. To climb the hill there are stairs and well-lit pedestrian paths that will allow you to appreciate more than 56 species of fauna and 101 species of flora. The Lookout
It is a viewpoint located at the top of Nutibara hill where you can appreciate the imposing mountains that border the city of eternal spring. City Museum
In this museum you will learn about the social and urban evolution that the city has undergone in the last century. There is an exhibition program with a collection of photographs, a large-scale architectural model, and various other artistic resources that summarize the history and ethnography of Medellín. Opening hours are Monday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the cost per admission is 2,000 Colombian pesos (less than 1 dollar).
Carlos Vieco Theater
It is an open-air theater with a capacity of 3,800 people.
Sculpture Park
It is a space to see the sculpture of Cacique Nutibara and 10 other sculptures.
Parking
The parking lots are located at the top of the hill and the parking rate per hour is 2,200 Colombian pesos.
Restaurants
There is a restaurant located in the center of the town called "La Fonda del Pueblo" where prices range from $23,000 to 34,000 Colombian pesos and the specialty for lunch is the bandeja paisa. There is also an area of typical food restaurants with cheaper prices and some have lunches called “el corrientazo”, ideal if you want to have a cheaper lunch.
One recommendation is that you try the different desserts and typical drinks that are offered at the kiosks.
History
The site began in 1974 with a viewpoint restaurant at the top of the hill. Due to its tourist potential, it was decided in 1976 to build the square of a typical town in Antioquia, and that same year the architect Julián Sierra Mejía began the construction of this tourist complex.
According to many historical reviews, materials, doors, and windows from houses in the municipality of El Peñol, a town in eastern Antioquia, was used for its construction. The total construction of Pueblito Paisa ended in 1978 and by the beginning of 2020 remodeling began, which will be finished by the end of the same year.
